About The Canary Community
Ever heard of the phrase "The canary in the coal mine"? If not, the canaries were more susceptible to toxic gases such as carbon monoxide. The canaries warned miners by growing more distressed when the gas levels were rising too high, allowing the human miners to escape safely and sparing many lives. Hence the phrase, "Like a canary in a coal mine." This is used to indicate a whistleblower or indicator of danger.
Rachel Riley, the founder/CEO of The Canary Community, has always been extremely sensitive to toxic smells, food, cleaning supplies, and ingredients that went on in or around her body. She was told by many healthcare providers that she was the canary in the coal mine. Rachel would present with symptoms WAY sooner than anyone around her. She used to think it was a curse, but now she sees it as a blessing. Your body speaks to you when it doesn't like something. We, as humans, choose to ignore it. This is how The Canary Community was born! We welcome all canaries, like Rachel and non-canaries, to this community to join in on a healing journey together!
